DENTAL BRIDGES
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth by spanning the gap between the remaining teeth. It consists of one or more artificial teeth, known as pontics, that are anchored in place by dental crowns on either side of the gap. The pontic is typically made from materials such as porcelain, gold, or a combination of materials, and is designed to match the color and shape of the natural teeth.
Dental bridges can be used to restore both the function and appearance of the mouth, helping to improve chewing and speaking abilities, while also enhancing the overall aesthetic of the smile. They can be a good option for people who are missing one or more teeth, but who are not good candidates for dental implants or other restorative procedures.
To get a dental bridge, your dentist will first need to prepare the teeth on either side of the gap by removing some of the enamel to make room for the crowns that will hold the bridge in place. Once the teeth are prepared, an impression will be made of the area, which will be used to create a custom bridge in a dental laboratory. In the meantime, a temporary bridge will be placed to protect the exposed teeth and gums.

Dental Bridge Procedures
The procedure for getting a dental bridge typically involves several steps:
- Consultation - You will meet with a dentist to discuss your options and determine if a dental bridge is the best solution for you.
- Preparation - During your next visit, the dentist will prepare the teeth on either side of the gap to receive the bridge. This involves removing a small amount of enamel from the teeth to make room for the bridge.
- Impression - An impression of your teeth will be taken and sent to a dental laboratory, where your bridge will be custom-made.
- Temporary bridge - While you wait for your permanent bridge to be fabricated, the dentist will place a temporary bridge to protect your teeth and gums.
- Fitting - Once your permanent bridge is ready, you will return to the dentist's office to have it fitted. The dentist will check the fit and make any necessary adjustments before cementing the bridge in place.
- Follow-up - You may need to return to the dentist for follow-up appointments to ensure that the bridge is functioning properly and to address any issues that may arise.
